The (Residency) Project & Exhibition:
(RESIDENCY): PROCESS TO CONSUMPTION
May 9 – July 27, McNichols Building, third floor
Process to Consumption presented by Create Denver, provides eight Denver-based artists with limited studio time on the third floor of the McNichols Building and 24 “vessels” to create their original artworks. This show challenges both the artist and audience by providing the public a rare opportunity to share in dialog and witness the artists’ creative process from conception to the many stages, methods and perspectives of execution, leading to the final exhibition, July 10 – 27.
The residency creates a framework that will help the audience to examine and embrace the role of the artist, the exhibition and themselves. By sharing the foundational value of the working artist, we also create a deeper understanding of the economics of buying art and important role artists play in our city.
For the artists, the environment is a performative experience that encourages collaboration, experimentation, and a forum in which to exchange ideas with each other and the audience.
