‘Traveling Route 40’ and ‘In Camera Abstractions’ open today
Two exhibitions of fine art photography are on display at the McNichols Civic Center Building as part of the Month of Photography, a celebration throughout Denver and the region during March and April.
Traveling Route 40 – Celebrating the Character of Colfax Avenue opens today at the McNichols Building, appropriately located at 144 W. Colfax Ave. in downtown Denver. The exhibition was an open call to artists, juried by Richard Van Pelt and presented by 40 West Arts District.
In Camera Abstractions, also opening today at McNichols, showcases works by Sabin Aell, John Davenport & Lincoln Phillips, Ethan Jackson, and David Sharpe. The exhibit, curated by Denver Public Art and presented by Arts & Venues, features photographic works creatively manipulated through non-digital methods.
Both exhibits run through April 21; a reception and artist talks for the exhibits will be held on the third floor of the McNichols Building:
- Reception: Friday, March 22, 5-8 p.m.
- Artist talks: Saturday, March 23, 1-4 p.m.
“We’re very excited to offer these exhibitions and participate in this great event,” said Amanda Renaud, Public Art Coordinator for Denver Arts & Venues. “The Month of Photography is a citywide collaboration and will be showcased in 180 galleries throughout the city and region this year.”
