The Biennial of the Americas is pleased to present a virtual conversation between Cuban artist Carlos Martiel and Tariana Navas-Nieves, Director of Cultural Affairs at Denver Arts & Venues on Monday, June 22, 3 p.m. via Facebook Live on the Biennial Facebook page. Please join us for this exclusive conversation exploring themes of immigration, race and the role of artists in activism.
Carlos Martiel is a Cuban performance artist who uses his body as a medium to explore themes related to migration, identity and the historical violence against Black and indigenous peoples across the Americas. Tariana Navas-Nieves developed and leads the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion initiative at Denver Arts & Venues and oversees the City departments of Public Art and Cultural Programs & Events.
