The story of Swan Lake
Three beautiful young maidens wander into the forest on the way to Prince Siegfried’s 21st birthday party. They fall under the spell of Von Rothbart, a wicket sorcerer, and he turns them into swans.
Prince Siegfried celebrates his 21st birthday but is burdened by the expectation to choose a fiancée. Seeking solace, he leaves the palace to hunt in the forest. Siegfried meets Odette, the Queen of the Swans, who reveals she is cursed by Von Rothbart. Only true love can break the spell. As dawn arrives, Von Rothbart’s magic summons the maidens back to Swan Lake.
At a royal ball, Von Rothbart tricks Siegfried into believing his daughter, Odile, is Odette. He swears his love to Odile, breaking his vow to Odette, who weeps in heartbreak. Siegfried flees to find her. Siegfried begs Odette for forgiveness, and in their despair, they choose to die together, breaking the sorcerer's spell. Von Rothbart is defeated. The lovers are united in life after death.
