Denver Arts & Venues (DAV) is excited to announce three new fall exhibitions on view at the McNichols Civic Center Building, as well as the next event in the Arts & Venues Cultural Runway Series: Black & White – The Finale.

Exhibitions:

201 Kimonos, McNichols Civic Center Building, Aug 16, 2024 – Jan. 5, 2025: This exhibition emphasizes the traditional T-shaped garment called “kimono,” while also integrating the more general concept of clothing. This includes a variety of other traditional Japanese apparel, like haori – a short kimono – and other varieties of robe-like clothing, such as traveling coats produced from various cloth and fibers.

Seeking Beauty: Works by Heidi Love Larraz, McNichols Civic Center Building, Aug. 16 – Sept. 29, 2024: Heidi Love Larraz is an American realist with influences of surrealism. Her work is most often inspired by the natural world where she has found the majestic subjects that captivate her most. We see in her work the sublime power and beauty of nature. Working out of her studio in Denver, Colorado, Heidi continues to develop her style as an artist while pursuing the “streams of consciousness” that find their way into her mind and onto the canvas.

Timeless, McNichols Civic Center Building, Aug. 16, 2024 – Jan. 5, 2025: Merriam-Webster defines timeless as something not restricted by age or date, something without beginning or end, something not affected by time. Eternal. Ageless. Classic. This group show highlights how monochromatic, black and white works of art inspire a sense of permanence. The works on display take both the viewer and the subject out of the bounds of time, and in turn, highlight the feeling of being without a connection to a particular place or era.

An opening reception for these exhibitions will be held Aug. 16 at 5pm at the McNichols Civic Center Building. The reception is free and open to the public; RSVPs are encouraged.

McNichols Building exhibitions are free and open to the public daily from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Private tours may also be scheduled by emailing Shanna.Shelby@denvergov.org.
